Visit statistics
We use DataFast to count page views and a few actions, such as starting a bid, opening a profile or paying. The totals are public. A small bar asks whether we may use a cookie for this.
- Until you choose, and if you say no: your visit is counted without cookies. DataFast makes a hash of your IP address and browser details with a key that changes every 24 hours, so the visit cannot be linked to you or to your visits on other days.
- If you allow the cookie: from the next time you load the site, DataFast sets four first-party cookies on founderboard.lol.
datafast_visitor_id,datafast_visitor_first_seen_atanddatafast_visitor_session_countrecognise a returning visit and are kept for one year;datafast_session_idgroups the pages of one visit and lasts 30 minutes. When you bid, the two IDs go with the payment to Stripe so DataFast can tell which page or link led to it. The legal basis is your consent. - Changing your mind: your choice is kept in your browser as
founderboard-analytics. , here and at the bottom of every page, lets you change it at any time. Saying no deletes the four cookies.
DataFast also counts the pages that known crawlers read, such as Googlebot indexing the board or ChatGPT opening a page to answer someone. For those requests only, our host sends DataFast the crawler's IP address and the name it identifies itself with, so DataFast can check that the crawler is genuine. Visits by people are not part of this.
The board's own counters
The online and visitors numbers at the top of each page are counted by the board itself, with two cookies: fb_sid marks your open tab as online and lasts 30 days; fb_seen makes sure your browser counts once in visitors since launch and lasts one year. Neither is shared with anyone. Profile clicks are counted per profile, not per visitor.
Bids and payments
Stripe takes the payment on its own checkout page; we never see your card. We keep the profile you bid on, the amount and Stripe's reference for the payment. The listing itself is public, as the rules describe.
